Thankful. Grateful. Blessed.

Thanksgiving is more than just a meal. It is a rare chance to be together, friends and family, under one roof to celebrate the goodness in our lives. The time spent together shopping, hours of prep work, cooking, baking, and eating erases the miles between us and the time spent apart. It’s a meal of old family recipes and new ones from the younger crowd. A celebration of laughter and sharing joys and blessings with those who sit around the table.

I hope my children remember waking up on Thanksgiving morning to the aroma of roasting turkey and anticipating the arrival of their aunts and uncles and cousins. Of course, they probably also realized Christmas (and gifts) were just around the corner.

In times fraught with uncertainty, I try to remember I have a roof over my head. I have heat. I have food. I have good health. I have clean clothes. I have family. I have friends.

And I have somewhere to go for the holiday meal.

Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving!

Annalisa

(Psst: frozen premade pie crusts, gravy mix, and cranberry sauce from the can is definitely OK.)
